Why People Aren’t Showing Up Live to Your Launch (And How to Fix It)

In this episode, I explain why low live attendance at webinars, challenges, boot camps, and other launch events is completely normal—and why getting more people to show up live can make a significant difference to your results. While only around 30–40% of people may attend live, getting more than 50% is considered a strong result. I share why live attendees often engage more, watch for longer, and are more likely to buy than people who only watch the replay.

I share five practical ways to increase live attendance at your launch events, starting with choosing the right day and time for your specific audience. I explain how getting your event into people’s calendars, providing something valuable in advance, offering a live-only bonus, sending plenty of reminders, and adding a personal touch can all encourage more people to show up. By the end of this episode, you’ll have simple strategies you can use to improve your live attendance and create a more engaging launch experience.

3 Key Takeaways:

Choose the Right Time for Your Audience
There is no universal best day or time to host a live event. Look at your specific audience and test different timings to find when they are most likely to be available and engaged.

Give People a Reason to Show Up Live
Providing something in advance, such as a workbook, and offering a bonus that is only available during the live session can increase the perceived value of attending and encourage people to make the commitment.

Use Reminders and Personal Connection
People are busy and often need more reminders than you think. Send reminders at key times, such as 24 hours before, one hour before, and right as the event starts. When possible, add a personal touch through communities or direct messages to encourage people to attend.

You've spent ages planning your launch experience, you've sent out all of the invites, you've got people signed up, and then you go to start the live experience itself and hardly anybody shows up. It can be so disheartening. And if you've been launching for a while, you know and I know that the more people who turn up to your launch experience, the better it's going to be and the more people that are likely to buy.

So how do we get people to actually show up in the first place? In today's video, I am gonna take you through the key things that you need to do in your next launch experience to get people to actually show up live to your boot camp, your challenge, your webinar, whatever it might be

ll the ways in which you can [:

Okay, so let's talk about getting people to turn up to your actual launch experience. Like I said, you've put all this work in, you've done everything that you've been told to do, you've sent the emails, you've posted on social, you've got people to sign up, and then you get to do the live thing, and your show up isn't great The first thing I wanna address is this is normal, by the way.

So on a normal webinar, you can expect between 30 to 40% show up, and that can vary based on different things. But if you get over half actually show up, you are doing really, really well. So don't be disheartened by this if you have 100 people sign up and only 50 people turn up. I would be over the moon.

me research around this, and [:

I know that when I'm watching something live, I will probably stay there for the whole thing, whereas if I'm watching the replay, I will be much less engaged and therefore not pay as much attention and possibly end the thing early. And also, the people who actually show up are more likely to end up buying than the people who don't.

And let's not even mention the fact of actually the more people who show up, the better it is for you, the nicer it feels, the more social proof you have. So all in all, for all the good reasons, we want people to actually show up. And if they don't, we often believe this means something about us, and it really doesn't.

how up rate and to encourage [:

I've got five things that you can do to help your show up rate, but before I give you those five things, I just wanna mention one thing. The day and time of your, if you're doing a webinar or master class, or the day and times of your challenge sessions or your boot camp sessions, they might affect the show up rate.

Now, it would be really easy for me to sit here and say midweek works best, at lunchtime, whatever it might be, but honestly, it depends completely. It depends on who your customers are, when they might be available, what day works with you best. But what I would say is even though I can't give you a definitive this will work better for you, because I don't know you and I don't know your audience, what I would say is you need to do your own research and you need to find out when is more likely to be better.

ts, then don't put something [:

Okay, so the five things that you can do to help your show-up rate. Number one, get it in their diary. If you are anything like me, if it's not in my diary, it does not exist. So we use a system called Add Event. We will put a link to it in the caption and the show notes, but basically with Add Event, you can give them a link which puts it in their calendar, and therefore it's sat in their diary, in their calendar online, and it can go in whatever calendar they use.

ver it is. So in most cases, [:

People will actually perceive the free thing, even if it is free, with higher value if they have something Like in their hand type thing or if there's an additional thing. Also, it's like a little sign of commitment straight away if they are printing off the workbook, if they're getting it ready. I normally say in an email, you know, print it off and get it ready for the session.

So when they have some value before the actual thing starts, they perceive it differently and they're more likely to turn up. Number three is a show up live bonus. This can work really, really well. In the emails promoting the launch experience and in the emails reminding them to turn up live, I would mention that there is a bonus for them turning up live and deliver it only to the people who are actually on live.

lly useful and a really good [:

The fourth one is the reminders. Now, this can be done by email and it can be done by a WhatsApp or a text message if you want to use those kind of methods. But basically, we are really busy people. We have like a million things going on in our brain all the time. So actually when it comes to doing something, we

er emails that you think you [:

So we normally send one right as the webinar is starting if we're doing a webinar. We send one an hour before it starts. We send one 24 hours before it starts. And then we are sending emails all the way between the 24 hour before it starts and them signing up. So the reasons you're giving them to sign up for the actual webinar in the first place is the same reasons as you want them to turn up.

So whatever you're writing in the emails to get them to sign up, you can use some of that content in the turn up emails And then the final one is you could do something a bit different. Now, I've seen some people create communities for a webinar or a master class. Obviously, you can have a community for a boot camp or a challenge, so you could put reminders in there.

ior to the actual webinar or [:

So those are the five things that you can do to get people to actually turn up. Number one was get it in their diary. If it's not in the diary, it doesn't exist. Number two was give them something to prepare with, like a workbook beforehand. Number three was give them a stay till the end bonus. Number four was make sure you send those reminders, whether it's by email or text or whatever it is, and probably send more than you think you need to send.

, the more people who attend [:

So I want you to almost put as much effort into getting them to turn up live as you are putting into getting them to sign up in the first place. I will be back next week with another episode.
